What is timberkit?

Think of a Robertson Timberkit as a skeleton. In just the same way our bodies are built around a skeleton, so a timberframe forms the internal structure for a home.

Houses with timber frame at their core do not rely on external walls to support the building. Instead, the property is supported by a light but incredibly strong and durable internal wood structure. Just like your body, this skeleton is precision engineered to support your home throughout its lifecycle.

Timber building structures have been used as a construction method in Britain and throughout the world for centuries, so they are tried and tested, proven and safe.

Nowadays, despite its longevity, timber's thermal, acoustic and ‘green' qualities have combined to make it arguably the most modern, accurate and advanced material in use in the global construction industry.

In the developed world, around 70 per cent of people in low-rise housing live in timberframe homes, rising to almost 90 per cent in the United States and Canada. According to the UK Timber Frame Association, it's now the most popular type of house construction in Scotland, with 55 per cent of all new build homes being timberkit.
